Roger Anderson

Sioux Falls, SD

1935-36, 791, Lightning Creek, F-14,
1939-40, 791, Lightning Creek, F-14,

Few members of Lightning Creek camp know that Roger Anderson was a member of this camp in 1935 and 1936. He enrolled in the CCC again in July, 1938, at Sioux Falls and it was his good fortune to be reassigned to his good old camp, Co. 791. Perhaps it was this good fortune that gave Roger the incentive to do the superior work that he has for the past two years.

Roger has had many and varied positions during his time here. He has served as utility man, chief electrician, electrician, truck driver for the Forest Service and Assistant Leader in the field. One of his toughest jobs was that of rewiring the entire camp and the new addition to the educational center.

His first winter here, Roger received the "true test of friendship," from every member in camp, when each one anxiously awaited the report of his condition when he was rushed to the station hospital with a serious case of pneumonia.

Roger has been very active at the camp's educational center. Here he has studied electricity, radio, lathe turning and general woodwork. It was here also, that Roger accomplished something few CCC enrollees can boast - that of being confirmed after studying the catechism, right here in camp.

Roger is truly a leader and has the whole-hearted backing of every man who knows him. So when Roger Anderson leaves on June 28, it is with deep conviction that we say, "There goes a man who will be hard to replace."
