Nickolas Henry Gebhart

Nickolas Henry Gebhart was born November 22, 1920 in Faulkton, SD.

US Army Sergeant, WWII. Nick spent a year in the CC camp in the Black Hill of South Dakota before he entered the Army on October 14, 1940. Nick's brother George joined the Army on the same day. He left camp Pickton, VA on October 22, 1942 for North Africa. He was Active in the Invasion of North Africa, the landing of Cassablanca and French Morroco on November 7, 1942, and was one of the first troops landing in Tunisia. He was also in the campaigns in Sicily and Salereno, Italy. Nick was killed in action in Italy on October 14, 1943 in the battle of Vulterno River. He was a member of Company E, 7th regiment infantry, 3rd division. His body was brought back to the US for burial in Watertown, SD. He was 22 when he died.
