Albert Rose CCC Photos

These photos were donated to the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Museum of South Dakota by Angela Harper. Ms. Harper's grandfather Albert Earl Rose was at Camp Roubaix and several of the photos are of the McVey fire of 1939.

For big fires, all CCC enrollees could consider themselves on call. Almost the entire Black Hills CCC contingent was on the fire line during the McVey burn, a 20,000-acre fire west of Hill City in 1939 (BHNF).
