Glenn C. Iverson, 89, of Rapid City, died on Mon., Jan. 24, 2005 at a local nursing home.

Glenn was born September 27, 1915 in Hettinger, ND to Iver and Anna (Voxland) Iverson. He grew up and attended country school at Doland, SD. He served in the CCC program in the Custer area. Glenn joined the United States Navy from 1941-1945. Serving aboard the USS Phoenix, in the Philippine Island theater. He was united in marriage to Doris E. Deming on September 8, 1945 in Redfield, SD. To this union two sons were born, James and Tommy. He worked for the Homestake Mine in Lead for ten years. Glenn and Doris relocated to Rapid City in 1955. He worked as a planning technician in Civil Service at Ellsworth Air Force Base for thirty years retiring in 1981.

Glenn loved reading, television, helping others with projects and enjoying his good health. He also loved camping in the Black Hills. He was a member of South Maple United Methodist Church and the VFW.

He is survived by his son Tom Iverson and wife Beth of Rapid City, four grandchildren, Pam, Nancy, Nick and Steve, three great grandchildren, four nephews and five nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife Doris in October 2004, his son, James and daughter in law Julie, four brothers and his parents.

Visitation will be from 2-5pm on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City and one hour before services at the church.

Services will be at 11am on Friday, January 28 at South Maple United Methodist Church in Rapid City with Pastor Tom Haggar officiating. Burial will follow lunch at Black Hills National Cemetery.
