Leo William Konstanz

Leo Konstanz was born on November 23, 1918 to Jacob and Friedericka (Schuler) Konstanz in White River, South Dakota. He attended various country schools and later worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps.

In January 1942, Leo enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 12th Cavalry. During his service, he earned a Bronze Star in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. In November 1945, Leo was honorably discharged and returned to his home in Tripp, South Dakota. On April 15, 1948, he was united in marriage to Ernestine Meyer. Together they made their home in the country where Leo would farm in the Kaylor/Olivet area for several decades. In 1985, they retired from farming and made their home in Tripp, South Dakota.

Leo enjoyed sports (especially the Minnesota Twins), newspapers, fixing things, a sly remark and being with his family. Leo was a member of Jelkin-Harms American Legion Post #142 and the First American Lutheran Church, Tripp.

Due to his declining health, Leo along with Ernestine became residents at the Good Samaritan Society of Tripp in November 2015 and later moved to the Good Samaritan Society Luther Manor in Sioux Falls in January 2018. It is there that he passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 having attained the age of 99 years, 2 months, and 30 days.
