Funeral services for Henry Kauth, 91, of Chamberlain, SD will be Friday, December 12, 2014 at 10:30 am at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chamberlain with burial in the Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.

Henry John Kauth was born April 10, 1923 on the family farm south of Norris, SD to John Henry and Christina (Krause) Kauth. He attended country school and then worked on the family farm. At the age of 16, Henry moved to the Black Hills and joined the CCC's. He later moved to Nebraska to work as a farmhand and then as a mechanic. On June 7, 1943, Henry was united in marriage to Angeline E. Herbolsheimer at Hartington, NE. He was drafted into the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. After his discharge, he returned to Nebraska and continued to work as a mechanic.

In February of 1950, Henry moved his family to Chamberlain where they raised their girls. He worked for Verschoor Motors and later for Cle-Kal Automotive. Lastly, he worked at St. Joseph's Indian School until around 1990 when Henry retired.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Henry and Angeline loved to travel and spent 14 winters in Yuma, AZ. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Chamberlain, Army National Guard, American Legion Potter Post No. 3, and VFW Post No. 6436.

Henry passed away on December 8, 2014 at Sanford Care Center in Chamberlain at the age of 91 years. Gratefully sharing his life are his two daughters Conleth Bailey and husband Ralph of Chamberlain and Yvonne McDonald and husband Colin of DeSmet, SD; three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; and a brother LaVern Kauth and wife Lucille of Bloomfield, NE; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Angeline in 2001, grandson Scott Allen Owen in 1989, two brothers; a sister; a half-brother, and four half-sisters.
