Ralph Ross' son Randy Ross and his wife, Louise visited the CCC Museum of South Dakota in September of 2017 bringing discharge papers, many photos and stories his father had shared about the CCC days. Randy's father had served in the CCC between 11th and 12th grade. He was a very good ball player.

Ralph Jamison Ross, of Magnolia, Arkansas, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009. He was born May 22, 1923, in Gillham, Arkansas, to James Garland Ross and Blanche Jamison Ross.

He graduated from Gillham High School in 1942 and joined the United States Marine Corps serving from 1943-1945. He graduated from Magnolia A&M College in 1948 and the University of Arkansas in 1951.

He served as head coach of the Mulerider baseball team in 1950. He began his teaching and coaching career with the Magnolia Public Schools in the fall of 1951 and retired in 1985. From the late 70's until two weeks ago, he served as ticket taker for Southern Arkansas University football and basketball games. He was well-known in the area as "Coach Ross" and in 2004 was honored by SAU as a Distinguished Golden Rider Alumni and was inducted into the SAU Sports Hall of Fame. As a long-time teacher and coach, he was a positive influence on many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Blanche Ross; brother, John Tyson Ross, half-brothers Clay, Custer, and Wayne Ross, and half-sisters, Thelma Ross Barnes and Louise Ross Watson.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lylette Rogers Ross of Magnolia; his son Randy Ross and his wife, Louise, of Norphlet, Arkansas; grandson, Lee Ross of Norphlet; son Greg and his wife, Candy, of Arlington, Texas; granddaughter Angela Miller and her husband, Josh, of Grapevine, Texas; and granddaughter, Erin Taylor and her husband, Zach, of Grand Prairie, Texas. He was also survived by his sister Ruby Atwell of Pensacola, Florida.

Funeral was held at 11 A.M. Thursday, March 12, at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Daniel officiating, assisted by the Rev. Don Nolley. Interment was at Magnolia Memorial Park under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia.

Pallbearers were Rodney Chambers, Jay Adcock, Jim Garrett, Billy Cheatham, Mike Waters, and Dr. Willis Beene. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Dunn, George Stewart, and Willie Roberts.
