Marion Edward Potter

Keyapaha, SD

1933, The Service Company (Fort Meade),

Marion Edward Potter, 92, of Neligh, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at an Omaha hospital.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Neligh, with the Rev. Sharee Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Beyer Funeral Home in Neligh.

Mr. Potter was born Sept. 7, 1913, in Carson Iowa, to Marion O. and Myrtle (Smith) Potter. He moved to South Dakota as a boy and graduated from Millboro High School.

He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps after graduation and worked in the Black Hills area of South Dakota.

He married Lola Brown on July 16, 1935, at Bassett. They recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. He farmed and ranched in the Long Pine and Springview areas before moving to Neligh in 1955. He then worked as a salesman for Minnesota Woolen Company and later sold Schaffer's specialized lubricants to farmers in the Northeast Nebraska area before he retired in 1986.

He was a member of the church, the Lions Club and the Antelope Country Club.

Survivors include his wife; one son Duane (Florence) Potter of Columbus; two daughters, Lois Carstensen of Columbus, and Janice Logan of Norfolk; one sister, Darlene Roark of South Jordan, Utah; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, three sisters and four grandchildren.
