Leonard E. Klattenhoff

Dodge County, NE

1934, 756, Savoy, F-18,

Not much is known about Leonard E. Klattenhoff. We may never have known his name or that he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in South Dakota had his canteen not been found and donated to the CCC Museum of South Dakota. Donations like this help to tell the important story of this New Deal program.

Leonard Klattenhoff CCC Canteen

Research from information etched on the canteen tells us that Leonard Klattenhoff was born February 14, 1916 and died September 5, 1998 in Hooper, Dodge County, Nebraska. He was a member of Company 756 that was located at Camp Savoy. A sidecamp was established at Tinton, Wy and that was also found carved on the canteen.
