Earl Michael Berndt (Pepper)

Avon, SD

Earl Michael Berndt was born September 25, 1919 in Menno , S.D. to Emanuel & Lydia Steinert Berndt. He grew up in Avon , S.D. In 1941 He joined the Army and attended the Officer Training School. He served as 1st Lieutenant during World War II. He earned the Distinguished Unit Badge, An American Defense Medal and EAME Medal before being discharged in 1946.

He married Mary Elizabeth Christopher, of Meridian Mississippi on August 8 , 1942. They settled in Birmingham AL. in 1957 and became lifetime residents.

Earl Michael Berndt died November 1, 2007 in Alabama at the age of 88.
