Former Rapidian Dies At Springs

Floyd Dawkins, 48, Chadron, Neb. former Rapid City resident and project supervisor in several Black Hills CCC camps, died at the Veterans' Administration facility in Hot Springs Sunday night after a long illness.

A World War I veteran, he was born May 22, 1894, at Leigh, Neb., and was associated with Black Hills CCC camps until abandoned last June.

He was married to Nellie Johnson of Rapid City in 1917.

Surviving are his wife and eight children; mother, Mrs. T. A. Dawkins, Rapid City, and seven brothers, E. C. and Raymond Dawkins, Rapid City; Bion Dawkins, Farmingdale; Guy Dawkins, Sheridan, Wyo.; Bert Dawkins, Glover, N. D.; Orley Dawkins, Portland, Ore., and Will Dawkins, Chadron. His father and a brother died about three years ago.

Services and burial will be at Hot Springs, but the time has not been set.
