Daniel Tadlock (Dan)

Daniel "Dan" Tadlock, 86, of Rapid City, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital on Mon., Apr. 9, 2007.

Daniel Tadlock was born in Aberdeen, SD on Oct. 26, 1920 to John and Rose (Samuelson) Tadlock. He attended school in Aberdeen. He enlisted in the National Guard and then joined the CCC Camp in 1938 at Camp Estes. He joined the Army on July 16, 1942 at Ft. Snelling, MN, then to Basic Training in Texas, next to Greenland and then to Germany. He was wounded in 1944 in Germany and honorably discharged on Dec. 5, 1945 at Sam Houston, TX as a Corporal. He earned the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, the Combat Infantry Badge, the American Campaign Ribbon, EAME Campaign Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Ribbon, three Overseas Service Bars and one Service Stripe.

He then returned to Aberdeen and enrolled in the Coyne Electrical School in Chicago to become a journeyman electrician. He moved to Rapid City in May of 1948 and worked at Interstate Electric for 17 years. When the company closed, he then worked at other union companies until retiring in 1982.

He was a member of First Congregational Church, member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, life member of Disabled American Veterans, life member of the Elks Club, life member of the VFW, and a member of the American Legion.

He married Rosella Krueger on Nov. 30, 1946 in Aberdeen.

He is survived by his wife, Rosella Tadlock of Rapid City; and four nephews and one niece, Dewayne Holm and Patti Hauge, both of Aberdeen, Kenneth Holm, Darwin Holm, and Michael Tadlock, all of Rapid City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and five brothers. Visitation will be at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City on Thursday from 4 pm to 7 pm, and then at the church for one hour before services.

Services are set for 10:30 am Friday, April 13, 2007 at First Congregational Church, 1200 Clark Street in Rapid City, with Dr. Ted Huffman officiating. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with military honors by VFW Post 1273 of Rapid City.
