Historical Marker Missing

The Este Civilian Conservation Corps Camp historical marker was taken. Locals report that the sign was knocked down. A short time later the sign was missing. Efforts have been made to locate the sign but have been unsuccessful.

If anyone has information about this important historical marker, please contact the Lawrence County Highway Depart, Law Enforcement or the CCC Museum of South Dakota.

Este was the first Civilian Conservation Corps camp in South Dakota and one of the last. Historical markers are an important part of our history. They remind us of the past and help us remember people, places, and events that have shaped our country. This marker as well as others have gone missing. If you have any information, please contact authorities.
