Deerfield

South Dakota Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp Approximately 1 mile northeast of Deerfield dam.

Black Hills National Forest records show that there were vestiges of a CCC camp about a mile northeast of Deerfield Dam. They also indicate that the CCC and WPA were clearing land and preparing to build a dam to create the lake. The CCC and WPA were clearing the area and making other preparations to build Deerfield dam on sections 20 and 30, T 1N, R 3E, west of Hill City in 1942 when the CCC discontinued.
