Charles Casper Huhn

Wilton, ND

1941, 2754, Badlands (Wall), NP-2,

Charles Huhn, age 97 of Grand Rapids, died peacefully at home on Thursday, September 16, 2021.

Charles' early life goal was to play in the major leagues. During summers in high school, he played baseball while working in the CCC. After high school he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps and became a flight instructor qualified in P-51 training. He played amateur league baseball after the war and was scouted by the Philadelphia A's. He turned down an offer with the A's to marry Lavona and earn a college education. He went to college on the GI Bill and graduated from Lewis and Clark College. Charles and Lavona were married for 70 years, had four children, and enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and golfing at Cascade Hills Country Club where he was a member for 48 years. He played golf with Arnold Palmer when he won a marketing competition, shot his age at 71, and had three holes in one. He was still golfing and playing bridge at 95. His business expertise was in sales, advertising and marketing and retired from Bissell Inc in Grand Rapids where he was VP of International Corporate Communications. He was the consummate life and golf coach and will be dearly missed.
