Arthur Lowell Catron, Sr.

Arthur Lowell Catron, Sr., 81, of Ewing, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at Country Aire Retirement Estates, Lewistown. Born May 13, 1921, in Savonsburg, Kan., a son of Edward and Frances Hale Catron. He married Gladys Schmidt, August 10, 1940, in Bethany, Mo. She survives.

Mr. Catron was a member of the Ewing Baptist Church. He was a retired carpenter, contractor and farmer. Mr. Catron enjoyed family, fishing, gardening, woodworking and farming. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and hauled rock from Mt. Rushmore and planted trees during construction.

Survivors include his wife; one son, L. Doug Catron, Canton; one daughter, Christine Carter and husband John, Maywood; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mary Sue Catron, Maywood; one brother, Henry Wesley Catron, Boone, Ia.; one sister, Mrs. Roberta Franks, Union City, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Kevin Catron and wife Nila; Todd Catron and wife, Sheila; Nelson Carter and wife Kelly; and Kristen Carter, all of Maywood. Brenda Givens and husband Gary, St. Louis, and Debbie, Laurie, and Cynthia Catron; four step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Catron was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Arthur L. Catron, Jr.; six brothers, Earl, Ralph, Robert, Bill, Harold and Lloyd Catron; two sisters, Martha Michael and Mildred Warren.
