Raymond Paul Kositzky

Company 2749 spent the winter in Arkansas and returned to Camp BF-2 (Sand Lake) the next spring.

Raymond Paul Kositzky, 83, of Billings, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997, in Yankton, S.D. Mr. Kositzky was on a trip with his sister, Erna Gavin of Redfield, S.D., to visit their niece and nephew, Dr. and Mrs. Don Neil of Yankton.

Raymond was born Oct. 20, 1913, to Paul and Margaret Rumfeld Kositzky in Redfield, S.D. He is a graduate of TriState University in Angola, Ind. Shortly after his arrival in Billings to work, Raymond met and courted Helen Beatrice Carns. They were married Sept. 28, 1940.

Mr. Kositzky enlisted in the Army in 1942. A veteran of both WWII and the Korean War, he attained the rank of captain and was awarded the bronze star.

He was a master electrician, working for Yellowstone and Sterling Electric and retiring as the City of Billings electrician in 1977.

Raymond was a member of the IBEW for 45 years; the Unity Church of Christianity; various Masonic organizations, including Rimrock Lodge 149, Moss Agate Eastern Star, Knights Templar, and the Knights of Birmingham. Ray enjoyed his love of life, continuing his education, traveling and doing volunteer work.

Preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1983; and sisters, Gertrude and Elsie, Mr. Kositzky is survived by two daughters, Bonnie and her husband, H. Buck Brown of Baltimore, Md., and Cynthia Owen of Billings; his sister, Erna Gavin of Redfield; three grandchildren; and special friend Frances Rogers.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon at the Smith West Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, at the Smith West Chapel with military rites and interment to follow at Mountview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Billings Humane Society, 490 N. 31st St., Billings, Mont., 59101.
