Chancellor Youth Is 'All American'

The Argus-Leader of Feb. 8 (year unknown) gives the following concerning Sam Anderson, son of Mrs. A. Anderson of this place:

Hot Springs, Feb. 8.-Sam Anderson of Chancellor, an enrollee stationed at the CCC camp In Wind Cave national park, was one of three boys In South Dakota presented with a medal signifying his selection as one of 31 "All American" athletes in the entire civilian conservation corps, which is made up of about 375,000 young men.

This selection was made by the paper "Happy Days," an official weekly newspaper upon recommendations made by army officials throughout the country who had witnessed athletic contests of all kinds in the various corps area. Anderson received this medal in recognition of his excellent playing on the Wind Cave baseball team the past season. Anderson played both as first baseman and as their pitcher. He was also the captain of the team, which won the CCC championship of South Dakota. Anderson was first enrolled In Camp Mayo near Custer, and was there for three months before being transferred to Wind Cave camp.

The many friends of Sam In Chancellor are glad to see him receive this honor and congratulate him.
