Scheuring

Raymond B. Scheuring (Buddy)

Beresford, SD

1933, 793, Hill City, F-9, Ass't Leader
1934, 2751, Oreville, F-16, Leader

The following is from a writing by Raymond Scheuring’s nephew Rick Lingberg, The Uncle Buddy I Hardly Knew.

Raymond B. Scheuring ("Uncle Buddy") was a World War II veteran and my grandfather's youngest brother. A first lieutenant in the 30th Infantry Division, he participated in four major combat offensives. He was a recipient of the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart. He also received a Presidential Unit Citation. This is a unit award that is equivalent to the individual award of the Distinguished Service Cross (the second-highest award for bravery after the Medal of Honor).

Uncle Buddy was a life-long bachelor, a rural mail carrier.
