Robert Henry Fossum

Barnard, SD

Robert H. Fossum was born in Pierre, SD October 1914 to George H. Fossum and Ella (Brown) Schauman. He and his siblings, Myrtle, Mabel, Minnie, Glen and Millie resided in Barnard, SD. He graduated in 1933 from Barnard High School.

During the early 1930's he worked for the CCC's, assigned to Camp BF-2, Company 2749 in Columbia, SD. He continued working with the CCC's in other locations, as well as the WPA and for Wrigley's. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1940, serving aboard the US Essex and Ranger during WWII. After the war he relocated with the Navy to Seattle, WA where he married and raised two daughters. He passed away in November 2008.
