Frederick Charles Fernbaugh, age 97, of Custer, SD, passed away on November 22, 2016, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City.

Frederick was born November 26, 1918, to Charles Louis and Gladys (Jordan) Fernbaugh in Cogswell, ND. He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942, until his honorable discharge in 1945.

He is survived by his wife, Ginny Fernbaugh of Pine Hills in Hot Springs, SD; daughters, Carol (William) Turner of Locust Grove, OK; Judy (Paul) Blazek of Gillette, WY; Linda (Carl) Hilliker of Hanford, CA; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

On October 7, 2016 Mr. Fernbaugh received the "Proud to be a CCC Boy" pin from CCC Legacy, a national organization that promotes awareness of the CCC program.

While serving in the Civilian Conservation Corps, Fred received a safe driving award which he donated to the CCC Museum of South Dakota.
