Charles Wesley Shrader, 93 years, 11 months and 29 days, formally of Orchard and Gering, passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at the Ambassador in Nebraska City.

Charles was born Feb. 26, 1917, to Charles Washington and Susan (Harvey) Shrader, in Orchard, Neb. After graduating from high school, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps until he entered the Army Air Force in 1942 and served in Europe during WWII until he received an Honorable Discharge in 1945. Charles returned home and married June E. Roudebush on March 31, 1950, in Alliance. They raised three sons, Daniel, David and John. Charles and his family lived in Gering for over 65 years, where he worked and was a partner in a commercial laundry and finally as a custodian for the Farmland Industries. After he retired, Charles and June moved to Nebraska City, to be closer to their sons.

Charles was a member and master mason in the Masonic Grand Lodge #201 in Gering and a member of the Eastern Star Lodge #133 in Scottsbluff.

Survivors of Charles include his sons, Daniel Shrader and wife Linda of Oklahoma City, Okla., David Shrader and wife Julia of Rock Port, Mo., and John Shrader and wife Stephanie of Nebraska City; grandsons, Dwayne Shrader and wife Elizabeth, Michael Shrader and wife Jean, Christopher Shrader and wife Jennifer, Jordan Shrader and wife Kayti, and Ty Shrader and wife Josie; eight great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife on Feb. 28, 2007; brothers, George, Tom, Frank and Richard; and sisters, Mildred and Ethel.
