Carl P. Boening

1941-42, 2765, Fechner, ASCS-1
A picture of the editor in this publication is sometimes difficult to obtain. Carl gave in to the pressure with these results.
Carl P. Boening was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, February 5, 1922. At the age of 5 he moved with his parents to Big Stone City, South Dakota where the family has resided since. Carl attended grade and High School there, graduating from the later in 1939. The next year he attended St. Thomas St. Paul, Minn.
April 7, 1941 was a red letter as he joined the CCC, for what reason he or no one else could determine. Anyway, the urge for training and experience was soon fulfilled. Carl spent the first few weeks going thru the mill like most rookies and then held a responsible position on the survey crew. In September Carl took over the duties of Assistant Ed. Adviser, continuing until his discharge March 31, 1942.
While Ass't and Editor of the Meade American the paper has been quite consistent due to his energy and leadership. Always popular in the company his ready wit and pleasant smile will be greatly missed. We wish him lots of luck and may his future success equal that of his outstanding ability as an enrollee.
