Ivan William Yaksha, son of Matt and Watie (Stoddard) Yaksha was born on February 26, 1915 at the Stoddard farm north of Plankinton, SD. He spent the first three years of his life with his family on the homestead near Van Tassel, WY. After moving back to South Dakota he attended rural schools in Aurora and Hand counties.
During the 1930’s he worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps at Wind Cave and Pine Creek in the Black Hills of South Dakota. For most of his life, he worked as a farmhand and since 1955 has resided primarily in McCook County where he worked for H.O. Wubben.
He is survived by his sisters: Vivian Wubben, Sioux Falls, SD and Ruth (Dale) Swenson, Phoenix, AZ; ten nieces and nephews including Marge (Dennis) Thury, Parker, CO, Harley R. (Connie) Wubben, Salem, SD, and Jon (Peggy) Wubben, Spencer, SD and numerous Yaksha and Stoddard cousins. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Wilma Mann, and one brother, Robert Orre.
