Lloyd Elmer Studer, 87, of Rockford, met his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 8, 1923 in Jefferson, SD; the son of Fred and Lena (Miner) Studer. Married Elizabeth Hoffman on September 25, 1943 in Sioux City, IA. Lloyd was a tool and die maker at Berol Corp. for many years and prior to that at Reeds Electromech Corp. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Was a member of Riverside Assembly of God Christian Center. Lloyd was also a charter member of Rock Run Long Rifle and Conservation Club, a past Boy Scout leader and softball coach. If you ever couldn't find Lloyd, check the nearest garage sale. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a rock hound and enjoyed making knives, tomahawks and powder horns. He would help anyone at anytime with anything. Lloyd loved God and his entire family and was devoted to them.
Survivors include his children, James (Betty) Studer, Kathy Wilson and Mike Studer all of Rockford; grandchildren, Tim (Patty) Studer, Tamara (Christopher) Griffin, Tina Studer, Jason (Sheila) Derrickson, Jeremy Studer and Jesse Studer; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Hogan of Daytona Beach, FL; numerous extended family and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Fred & Lena; loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth; daughters, Linda Jo and Carol Ann; and sister, Rose Marie Studer.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the staffs of Northern Illinois Hospice, Swedish American Hospital and Fitzgerald Funeral Home for their kind and compassionate care and our dear church family for their love and prayers.
Funeral Services were Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Riverside Assembly of God Christian Center, 4242 W. Riverside Blvd. Rockford with Pastor James Moore and Pastor Truman Turner officiating. Burial was in Willwood Burial Park.
